Emily Scala

Emily currently serves as an advisor to the Acting Secretary of Department of Homeland Security. Prior to her current position, she served in various positions within the Department to include Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement within the office of Public Affairs, as well as a Strategic Communications Advisor to the Director of CISA where her focus was the 2018 midterm elections.

During her time at the Department, Emily has successfully strategized and assisted in the development of policy and external communications to improve public awareness of key department policies and priorities. Her work has been critical for the establishment of a meaningful dialogue on issues with key groups, stakeholders and industry.

Prior to joining the Administration, she worked in public relations and marketing in the private sector.

Emily earned a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication Studies from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Clemson University.
